Spotting the greens!

We have recently known that the production of a new 1:72nd scale (=20mm) range of plastic miniatures related to the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1715) is about to start. This new series will be have a special mention to the Catalan involvement, in a war that was to be the last one in History where Catalan-Aragonese troops would fight under their own flags. Not least important, it will be the first time that WSS Spanish and Catalan troops will be produced in this scale.

We have had the chance to interview German Domingo, owner of Barcelona Universal Models (BUM), who has not only agreed to give us some details about the main features of this exciting project of this Catalan brand, but to furnish us with some pictures of the upcoming range greens as well.

We are glad to let you know too that we've arrived to an agreement with Mr. German Domingo to include our booklet Catalonia Stands Alone / 1713-1714: the Catalans' War in their boxed sets as a free CD. According to the spirit of the Creative Commons license of the booklet, this agreement has not involved any payment to the author, and permission is given to BUM for distributing the booklet in their WSS boxes whereas the CD is explicitly included as a free gift -with prohibition to sell or trade it.

Please read here our complete chronicle on the event (apologies for eventual errors in text, we've written it hurriedly in our excitement!).

Molt bona feina,
Antoni

It is exciting to see so much new information and equipment on this fascinating period.

I am a great admirer of your blog and your generousity in sharing all of the knowledge you have.

Thank you.

As a Britain I feel, I ought to apologise for the Peace of Utrecht and the shameful way England behaved towards Catalonia.

However if one counted every time the British politicians have betrayed the sacrifices of their soldiers and allies, it would be a very long list!

regards
John

Hi again John!

As you can see, I haven't been able to update this blog lately. Sure that there have been some scientifical researching on WSS matter -but they're progressing slower than expected by me, so that I scarcely have had news to comment these last months.

True that Catalan Historians have usually expressed some frustration at the so-called 'English betrayal'. However, it seems that English culture keeps to excert some kind of fascination over our people, for our ancestors have repeatedly 'fallen' into English leaders' designs in spite of that famous historical 'betrayal': during Peninsula wars, or in WWI (when thousands of Catalans rushed to volunteer with the Allies in spite of the official neutrality of Spain), even in WWII when a number of individual Catalans joined British resistance against Nazism, always with the hope in mind that 'maybe this time they'll be taking us into account'...

Is it any kind of non-corresponded love? (laugh)

BTW: don't give up Gibraltar please! No, unless the whole terms of Utrecht are revised!!! (laugh again)
